Pregnancy care at Blossoming Bump begins early in your pregnancy, with appointment schedules tailored to your individual needs and guided by your midwife. Our care is provided in accordance with the Department of Health Pregnancy Care Guidelines, the National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral, and all relevant state legislation.

At Blossoming Bump, all antenatal care components are bulk billed, making quality maternity care more accessible for families. Postnatal Care

Returning home with your new baby can feel both exciting and overwhelming. At Blossoming Bump Midwifery Services, we are here to support you through this important transition with compassionate, personalised postnatal care beginning from the time you are discharged from your birthing hospital.

Our postnatal appointments are flexible and tailored to meet the individual needs of both you and your baby. During your visits, we provide support and guidance for maternal recovery, newborn care, infant feeding, and emotional wellbeing — helping you feel reassured and confident as you settle into life with your newborn.

This service is available until your baby is 6 weeks old and is fully bulk billed, so you can access quality postnatal support without worrying about unexpected costs.

You do not need to have received pregnancy care through Blossoming Bump to access our bulk-billed postnatal services — all families are welcome.

Collaborative Care

We proudly collaborate with Dr. Van Der Merwe to provide comprehensive, personalised private maternity care. Should any complications or additional concerns arise during your pregnancy, we work closely with the appropriate medical professionals to ensure you receive timely, coordinated, and evidence-based care.

Dr. Van Der Merwe trained and worked in South Africa, where he gained extensive experience across multiple areas of medicine including General Practice, Obstetrics, and Surgery. He has been a valued practitioner at Murray Medical for more than 10 years and is passionate about providing compassionate care and making a meaningful difference in the lives of his patients.

Natural Pain Relief

These impulses also encourage your body to release endorphins and enkephalins, your natural chemicals, that reduce pain. It is a safe drug-free method of pain relief that has no side effects for mum or baby. Having effective pain relief will help you to stay at home as long as possible in labour. The Tens machine can be used right up to giving birth.

ELLE TENS

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) works by passing mild electrical impulses through the skin, via electrode pads, into the nerve fibres which lie below. The TENS impulses help your body produce its own pain killing chemicals, such as endorphins. The level of pain relief obtained varies from person to person.

Blocking Pain Signals

The Elle TENS is attached to electrode pads which are placed on your lower back, directly on the skin. The electrodes emit a harmless flood of electrical impulses to the nerves. Your brain can only process so much information at once, so your brain reduces the number of signals it will process, which in turn reduces the level of pain you consciously feel.

Many mums find the Elle TENS Machine significantly relieves labour pain by sending small electrical impulses through electrodes on the skin.
